| WMA OBJECTIVES |
| The
defined objectives of the WMA are:
1. To foster the interests of its sector of industry by clarifying its policy and providing channels of communication and negotiation with other bodies. 2. To ensure that its sector of industry plays its full part in the national interest and that of the community at large and to foster the home and export trade of its sector of industry. 3. To represent the interests of its sector of industry as a whole or any constituent part thereof in dealings with Governments of the United Kingdom, EU countries, the Commission of the European Union, the Governments of other foreign countries, with trade organisations and all other bodies on matters relating to and affecting its sector of industry. 4. To participate in the revision of existing and the promotion of new British and International Standards as may from time to time be necessary. 5. To organise and facilitate the collection, co-ordination and presentation of reliable statistics within its sector of industry for the benefit of member companies only, provided that it shall have regard to the requirements of the UK Restrictive Trade Practices Act of 1976 the Competition Act 1998, and any other national or EU legislation for the time being in force. The WMA continuously reviews its structure and Product Sector definitions to ensure that the operation of the Association is directly related to its members generally and to the particular requirements of members of each Product Section. |
